We just love Cake!

Cynthia Carr wife and mother from Baltimore, Maryland born and raised in the inner-city community of Sandtown Winchester until the age of 18. She attended Edmondson High School where her trade of choice was actually Cosmetology. During that time the Cosmetology trade had reached its student capacity. She decided to choose the next best thing in her eyes, which was Commercial Baking. Although, Cynthia never knew she had a natural gift for cake decorating she gave it her all and began educating herself. She learned everything that commercial baking and cake decorating had to offer.
Cynthia wasn’t afforded the opportunity to attend culinary school, post secondary to further her knowledge and education. Therefore she began to seek her education in the workforce working at various bakeries within the Baltimore metropolitan area. She started at entry level positions and eventually resigning from those jobs to take her career to the next level.
She focused on her dream of owning her own company. After working and gaining many experiences she felt she learned and experienced enough to start her own business. Cynthia often remembers her very first space where she began designing edible works of art, in her home kitchen.
In 2005, Cakes by Cynthia was an official business. She went through many trails and tribulations to achieve the success she now has. It wasn’t an easy “CAKE WALK”, but she operated her business in three retail stores before moving into her current location in 2016 in Halethorpe, MD alongside her husband and kids.
Cynthia has also appeared on national TV on Netflix "Sugar Rush", Food Network "Buddy's Bake You Rich!", The Cooking Channel “Cake Hunters”, WETv “Wedding Cake Wars”, Local News WBAL, FOX 45, FOX DC 5, Magazine publications and often gives back to the community especially Baltimore City Public Schools with fundraisers and as a guest speaker sharing her story.
